The Berkeley Language Center offers a number of classrooms and a computer facility on level B and one classroom on level C of the classroom side of Dwinelle Hall. BLC rooms may be requested for any language or language-related class or activity, including: single classes or events and semester-long classes. We are especially eager to accommodate classes that have schedules not handled by a general assignment classroom or equipment needs that are not available elsewhere. Requests for single use events are processed on a first-come basis. We accept and process semester room requests as we receive them and priority is given to those received prior to April 15 for Fall semesters and October 15 for Spring semesters. It is highly recommended that you provide two room choices, in case your preferred choice is not available.
To reserve a room:
-
- Review the Rooms at a Glance, noting especially the available seating.
- Read the entire descriptions of the room by clicking on the appropriate room number.
- Consult the All Rooms Schedule to ensure that the room is available.
- Review the Room Use Policies.
- Once you have decided which room best meets your instructional needs and determined its availability click the “Reserve A Room” button.
Room Use Policies:
- BLC classrooms may be reserved for authorized university activities and programs and non-academic activities that directly support the BLC’s central mission in accordance with the BLC’s policies, existing university policies, campus regulations, and any specific building restrictions.
- Instructors are responsible for familiarizing themselves with the technology prior to using the room.
- Instructors are responsible for setting up the configuration of the room to suit their own purposes.
- Instructors are responsible for ensuring that BLC rooms are locked after their classes are over and that equipment (e.g., the data projector) has been turned off.
- Instructors using BLC classrooms on multiple occasions or in off-hours may obtain a key to the classroom.
- BLC classrooms are available for reservation between 8 AM and 6 PM Monday through Friday, except holidays.
No food or drink is allowed in classrooms or the computer facility, and instructors are expected to enforce this policy when meeting in BLC rooms.
