Hangul Day Event: A celebration of 80 years of teaching Korean at UCB!

The Korean Language Program is excited to announce a special event that will take place next Monday (Oct.9th) to commemorate a significant milestone in the Korean language program’s history.

This year marks the 80th anniversary of teaching Korean at UC Berkeley and we would like to invite you to join us in celebrating this remarkable achievement. Our Hangul Day event, scheduled for October 9th, is themed “Legacy and Progress: Celebrating 80 years of Korean Language Program at UC Berkeley”.  Hangul-nal (lit. “Korean Alphabet Day”) is a Korean national holiday that celebrates the invention and proclamation of Hangul by the 15th century King Sejong the Great.

Please take a moment to review the detailed program for this all-day event (co-sponsored by EALC and CKS in this Google Doc. We have planned a variety of presentations and activities that showcase the rich history and bright future of our Korean Language Program. You are welcome to join us at any time that is convenient for you throughout the day.
