Special Event: Applied Language Studies Information Session, September 4, 2014

You are warmly invited to the Orientation and Reception for the Applied Language Studies Minor

For the last five years, the Undergraduate Interdisciplinary Studies (UGIS) program has been offering an interdepartmental undergraduate minor in Applied Language Studies (ALS). The field of Applied Language Studies is devoted to the study of particular domains of language learning and use, such as foreign language learning and teaching, bilingualism and multilingualism, translation and interpretation, communication in professional contexts, and intercultural communication.

This minor is of particular interest to students who know other languages and who wish to add a research component to their language learning experience. It provides them with additional expertise as they prepare for professional careers in education, law, business, or medicine, or for graduate study in the interdisciplinary field of Second Language Acquisition / Applied Linguistics.

Come and find out about this exciting Minor! For more information, contact Prof. Rick Kern at rkern@berkeley.edu or Prof. Claire Kramsch at ckramsch@berkeley.edu.

Thursday, September 4, 5-6:30 pm, 370 Dwinelle Hall (level G of the office wing, level F of the classroom wing). Wheelchair accessible.

Refreshments will be served.
