BLC Director Claire Kramsch reflects on issues of language educational policy in the United States in advance of the national colloquium organized by the UC Consortium for Language Learning and Teaching in the opening article of the fall 2005 BLC Newsletter. Other pieces include notes from the Associate Director (Mark Kaiser) and the Academic Coordinator (Sonia S’hiri, Lecturer, Near Eastern Studies). Françoise Sorgen-Goldschmidt, a lecturer in French, contributed a report on a National Foreign Language Resource Center summer workshop in which she participated.
