Film in the Language Classroom: A multiliteracies approach, and beyond

In this presentation I will examine the place of film in the language classroom from three perspectives, film studies, language, and software design, in order to explore the many ways that film can serve as source material for language instructors, taking into consideration the potential, and limitations, of a communicative, intercultural, and multiliteracies approach. The presentation will conclude with a sneak peak at Lumière, the new version of the BLC’s Library of Foreign Language Film Clips (LFLFC), scheduled for release over the winter break.
