Announcement from the Center for Southeast Asia Studies

CSEAS welcomes Kenneth Wong (Aung Naing Oo) as UC Berkeley’s new instructor for Beginning Burmese this fall! Originally from Burma, Kenneth moved to the U.S. after the military junta’s crackdown in 1988, and is now based in San Francisco where he is a writer and translator. His personal blog highlights his recent writings and translations of Burmese poetry and short stories into English, while his audio guides to speaking Burmese are available on YouTube. The Beginning Burmese course is being newly offered at UC Berkeley this year through the Dept. of South & Southeast Asian Studies. The course is supported with CSEAS Title VI National Resource Center funding for the next three years.
