World Language teachers and credential candidates are invited to participate in professional development that “Connects Teachers and Students to World Languages”.  Foundations for Effective Language Teaching I and II will be offered on five Saturdays. Topics include the new California Standards, communicative units that incorporate culturally authentic resources, and effective strategies to engage diverse learners. The cost is $250 with a 10% discount if you participated in EBFLP in 2009 -2010. The course will take place at the Berkeley Language Center on the UC Berkeley campus. Both courses meet on October 30, December 4, January 22, March 5, and April 2 from 8:00 to 3:30.

There is no prerequisite for Foundations I. Participants who have completed Foundations I may apply for Foundations II. The attached flyer gives additional details about the content of each course. The application deadline has been extended such that the application and payment are due by October 15. The flyer and registration forms are available here.

Great news!  We’ve finally had both Foundations I and II approved by UC Extension for 2 semester units of credit. You will be able to register on Saturday as well as the following week or so as the system does not yet have EBFLP listed for official registration. The additional cost of the units will be $250.

Since this is such late notice about the units, we are extending the application deadline to October 29, so please encourage your colleagues to join us. The flyer and registration forms are available here.
